Heart of the Sunrise

This is the final outcome of my second drift through Milwaukee. It certainly wasn't easy, apparently the parking structure that I used to record sound is a federal building, and they were on "code yellow", so once I arrived to the top floor, I had to escorted because they thought I was a misfit checking the buildings stress levels! Well, here is my video, hope you enjoy!

2nd Sound Rough Cut

This rough cut shows one of my ideas described in my production strategy. I went to a parking lot with many floors and I chose a spot to start shooting on the ground floor. I showed the area in about a 180 degree angle, then I sent to the next floor and started in an area that is approximately above the previous area. I continued to do this until I reached the top floor. The sound for this video is from the same parking lot, but instead of switching with every floor, I decided to let that continue to play. I wanted to show every floor of the parking structure, so I tried to make it look like it was a single continuous shot.

1st Sound Rough Cut

In this rough cut I wanted to try a variety of different sounds. I show a few of my possibilities with some images that I might use in my finished project. I want to see what sound works best with an image.

Second Silent Rough Cut.

This clips shows how building reflections distort and present moving objects.

First Rough Cut.

Here are a few stills that I took on my drift. I took all of these stills by taking a picture of the reflection from various things, such as cars and the outside of buildings. This gives me a different and sometimes abstract way of looking at the city.

Production Strategy.

My production strategy can be split into two ideas. The first part deals with recording and photographing how various objects found throughout the city can reflect the city by distort and presenting it in different ways. The photographs and recordings I do will all be done by pointing the camera towards an object to capture the reflection of the surroundings. The other half of my production strategy involves a parking structure. I will start off by standing in a parking structure with many levels, then I will then record my the surrounding area in a sort of a half circle. I will then go to the next floor and stand in an area directly above where I was previously standing and record in the same fashion. I will repeat this until I reach the very top of the structure, which is usually on the rooftop. This will allow me to see different "levels" of the city, starting from ground level and ending on the outside rooftop area.
